--------------------------------- Callie had rehearsal in the morning, and she was so tired. She loved playing music, she really did, her flute was honestly her first love but she just didn’t feel like practicing today. The weather was just so bright and shiny it was torture to be stuck indoors, so when she was finally dismissed she rushed back to her cabin wanting to change out of her jeans into something more suitable for jogging. Many thanks to the people up there who decided to let it rain yesterday and the day before, causing her jogging schedule to be disrupted. Okay Callie wasn’t really a girl who paid much attention to schedules, she jogged when she felt like it but the bad weather had really caused her to be rather moody and she didn’t like that. Throwing her flute and bag on her bed, she got ready in a few minutes. She fished out her ipod from her bag and left the room, out into the warm sunshine. She started off slowly towards the war beach, being a New York City girl she often went on a weekend escapades to Long Beach Island with her brother and friends, hence she developed a love for the sandy shores and open waters. She jogged along the shore, her music blocking out the rest of the sounds, making her surroundings look like a silent movie. After jogging for a while, she stopped to catch her breath and sat down on the shore, looking out into the distance lost in her own world, until someone casted a shadow over her, causing her to look up. The day was still young, and Drake felt miserable. He did not get a second of sleep last night. Try as he might, everytime he closed his eyes, Ariel was there, glaring at him. Blaming him for not finding her murderer. For not wanting revenge. It was harder than he imagined to convince himself it was all an illusion. Looking out the window at the perfect blue sky, Drake sighed. It was too beautiful of a day to be wasted on thoughts of the past. He stopped and looked back only for a moment to contemplate whether or not he shoud take his guitar with him. In the end he choose not to, for as much as he valued his guitar, it carried too many memories for him to handle today.
Leaving his room, Drake looked around at all the other campers who were enjoying the day like he was. He smiled and said "Hi" to one or two of them, but felt crowded. Drake thought about the beach and the lake. As he walked down, the breeze caused him to pull his denim jacket in closer. Whoever said Nevada was warmer than Texas made a gross exaggeration. The beach was still something new to Drake. He had been land-locked on the ranch for most of his life, and the few times he actually went to a beach before had been escapades to Galveston, which was hardly the Carribean. Looking down at the shoreline of War Beach, he saw a familiar blonde. As she sat down to catch her breath, Drake snuck up behind her, planning to cover her eyes and have her guess who it was, but his shadow gave him away first. When she looked up, Drake smiled and said, "Hey". Tagged: Callie Notes: You didn't suck too bad

--------------------------------- Looking up at him, she couldn’t help but laugh. It wasn’t funny or anything she was just glad she some company had finally arrived. Removing her earphones, ”Hey Drakee” she said with a playful smile. Being a loner wasn’t really Callie’s thing, she really couldn’t believe anyone could survive without friends. Turning her attention back to Drake who was towering over her like he wasn’t tall enough when she stood up, she moved over and patted the sand next to her, ”Sit” she offered, making it a statement and a question at the same time. Callie was learning how to read people, it seemed like a rather useful skill to her, reading people. She was always curious if the people around her was happy, sad, excited etc. There wasn’t exactly a ‘reading people’ teacher she could hire so she just began by observing people more carefully. Although she was getting better at this, her big mouth often got her into trouble a plenty. This didn’t seem to stop Callie from taking a closer look at him he looked tired. Smiling softly at him, ”You look tired someone partied to hard last night?” she joked knowing that wasn’t the real reason but he could use it as an excuse if he wanted to, if he didn’t want to tell her what was bothering him. Okay Callie had known him ever since she came to camp, and she could definitely tell if something was on his mind, but she decided to leave it up to him on whether he wanted to tell her. Looking back up at him, she grinned, waiting for his response. Tagged: Drake Outfit: Outfit Word: 272 Notes: haha <33

--------------------------------- Reading his expression, Callie couldn’t help but frown he wasn’t the best liar in camp and Callie could tell when he was lying most of the time but she just nodded in agreement to his party comment, Callie chuckled, ”You’re right if there was probably half the people here wouldn’t even be here” she joked, looking at the other people on the beach. She guessed that Drake probably didn’t want to tell her what made him look tired so she just left it at that, he would tell her when he wanted to. No point in ruining it by pressing on further. So she made up her mind to make him feel less tired since that was pretty much the only thing she could do. Wondering how to go about doing that, she tried to think of a topic to change the subject. She looked away from the people at the beach, turning back to him, realizing that his clothes weren’t exactly suited for the beach. She smiled amusedly, ”Something tells me that you didn’t plan to come to the beach right?” she asked him. The beach was most probably the only favorite place of hers that didn’t sell food, she had a lucky high metabolism rate with all that jogging she did and now it was making her hungry. She grinned at him, ”Drake…you wouldn’t happen to have food on you would you? she asked him jokingly with a playful smile. Drake laughed at Callie's comment about the number of hard core party-goers at the camp and the truth within her statement. This place certainly had a way of washing away unwanted memories, Not forever, but once or twice every few nights or so. That's what happened when you got enough people together at a time. It certainly was a change from the vast spaces of the ranch back home.
He was somewhat relieved when the conversation turned away from last night as Callie commented that Drake did not look as if he had planned to come to the beach. It was true- he hadn't. But going anywhere in what you were comfortable in always made sense in Drake's mind - no matter how out of place it was. He felt that his denim jacket, worn jeans, tennis shoes, and vintage tee would work for any situation. Plus, it made him feel more comfortable and therefore more confident and assured. "What gave it away?" he joked, turning so she could inspect his outfit better. He smiled as she threw him another curveball with a teasing glance asking if Drake had any food. "Well, you see, food is like sleep. It should be pretty obvious what the answer is. 'Cause if I actually had any food on me, you wouldn't think it would make all the way down here to the beach, would you?" he teased. "But, as it so happens, I do have some Skittles." He said with a smile as he pulled out from his jacket pocket the remaining three-quarters of a bag of Skittles that had been his make-shift breakfast at three am. --------------------------------- Sitting here on the beach brought back memories of the past when she was back in New York, short weekend trips to Long Beach Island were always loved, three days away from her so called parents was what Callie would call peace. Hence, the beach practically any beach could make Callie feel comfortable and at ease. Looking at his outfit when he turned she thought for a while, ”I’d have to say the jeans and your jacket” she replied nodding, ”Who would wear jeans to the beach?” she joked, looking down at her shorts before looking back up at him, ”Not that you should come in swim trunks or anything like that” she added, laughing at the absurdity of that and the fact that she actually said that out loud. She wasn’t laughing at him, she was laughing more at herself which was something she did very often. She gave him a mock look of disappointment when he said he didn’t have any food on him but couldn’t keep that expression when he asked if it would have survived it’s way down to the beach. It put a smile on her face, ”Haha nope I don’t think would” she agreed although her eyes did lit up when he mention skittles. Giving him a sweet yet playful smile, ”Did I ever tell you how awesome you are?” she grinned looking at the skittles before looking at him. ”I would hug you right now if you don’t mind the fact that I just ran” she offered with a amused smile. She didn’t sweat much because of the soft breeze that kept her company while she ran just now but still sweating was inevitable when you exercise. Furthermore it had been a while since Callie sat down so she was pretty much dry, pretty much. Tagged: Drake Outfit: Outfit Word: 302 Notes: haha what do you know coffee helped thankies!

Drake tried hard not to laugh as he was inspected then critiqued jokingly by Callie about his outfit. "Well, if the jacket's a problem, the solution is simple." he said with a smile. Drake then proceeded to slide off his jacket and toss it over his shoulder further up the sandbank. "Now, I could take care of the rest of the issue, but umm... that would create unnecessary and unwanted attention." he joked. "Besides, who doesn't love swimming with the extra weight of soaking wet denim?" Callie's laugh brought a smile to Drake's face, a sight that even he thought was long extinct. It was still odd for Drake to face the fact that he started living again. Actually living, instead of just rolling through the standard motions of the day. Still, as strange as it was, Drake kind of liked it.
Just when Drake thought he had gotten lose by handing her the Skittles bag, he found himself being bombarded with energetic gratitude. Callie asked Drake if she had ever told him how awesome he was. Grinning, he replied, "No, but you could tell me now if you've got the time. I won't be going anywhere soon." Then as Callie explained that she would offer him a hug and if she was sweating (what beads might have been there were invisible to Drake's eye), Drake just laughed and hugged her anyways. --------------------------------- Fashion was probably in Callie’s blood, so you couldn’t really blame her for noticing the clothes that people wore. It was quite fun really, looking at how people dressed and how much that told about their personality. It also didn’t help that her father was behind a large fashion empire. Another reason to miss New York, shopping. Callie did like it here; in fact you could almost say she loved it here after being here for three years. She watched him get rid of his jacket with unmasked amusement, and laughter. Smirking at what he said about his jeans, Callie looked up at him laughing again. She really had to stop laughing, ”That is so…creative” she told him at a loss for words at what he just said, the only word that she could come up with was creative, it didn’t really make sense but Callie wasn’t a girl who made sense very often, there were other things that were more important on her list. ”I really have no idea what to say to that” she admitted with a nod, chuckling at herself. Popping a skittle in her mouth, she grinned at his reply ”Well Drake is the awesomest skittle guy in the world” she commented before hugging him back. ”And the best hugger” she joked, looking at the pack of skittles, ”You sure you don’t regret giving me more sugar?” she asked him with a mischievous smile, popping two more in her mouth, offering him the packet back. Drake was a little surprised by Callie's reaction to his comment about his jeans. He really hoped that he did not give the wrong impression, which he could have done very easily without realizing his mistake. He didn't want to ruin such a good friendship. He relied on them a lot more than anyone could ever hope to know. Still, he wasn't about to let on that dependency to any one involved, no matter how much he liked them and appreciated their opinion.
Drake grinned lightly as Callie began her list of explanations for his awesomeness. He was a naturally humble person and would never have associated himself with any of the traits Callie listed if asked. She seemed to be in a slightly better mood now. The skittles certainly helped. Drake couldn't help but laugh as she popped the brightly colored fruity candy in her mouth a piece or two at a time. When Callie asked if he regretted giving her all that sugar, he laughed and replied, "I probably will, but I think I can manage before the sugar rush kicks in." He looked at her with a smile.
