- - - - -It was a great day outside. The kind of great day where staying inside should have been a crime and it’s criminals should be punished to the full extent of the law. The sun was out and shining, and there was the occasional light breeze that slipped through the area. It was just perfection. So, in order not to break his own rule Reese had gotten up and gotten dressed and immediately went outside so he didn’t miss anything.
For the first time in a while Reese didn’t really have any plans, so he decided that hanging out by the flagpole would be his best bet. And it turned out to be exactly so. As usual there were large groups of kids there just hanging out and enjoying the beautiful weather. Some waves and nods were given to people that Reese recognized before he sat down and leaned up against the cement platform.
The blonde reached into his bag and retrieved his bright green ukulele and started to mess around with it. Not in some kind of obnoxious attempt to get attention though. However he did receive stares from quite a few females, and males as well. No matter where he went there were bound to always be people eyeing him closely, whether it was because they wanted him to get naked or because they thought he was going to cause trouble. Most of the time Reese didn’t even try to obtain the attention that he received; it was just the way that things happened. It must have been in the genes or something. But here was the way Reese looked at it, if neither of them were so enamored enough with the other that they actually got up and talked to each other than it was probably a lost cause.
This time though, the instrument he carried with him was probably earning him a few stares too. For one it was bright green and had various phrases written on it from when Reese had the urge to write and there was no paper around. The small guitar-shaped instrument would have brought in attention despite its color. After all, how many people outside of those in Hawaii actually played or even owned a ukulele? Well Reese didn’t know the answer to that question; he just knew that he was one of those people. The truth was he had never even been to Hawaii before. The instrument had just struck his fancy one day while he was looking through an instrument catalogue looking for a new keyboard and he decided it would be a fun instrument to know how to play. The same thing actually happened with the banjo and the harmonica. Reese just kind of picked a random instrument and decided he was going to learn how to play it. And it just made his parents angrier and angrier to see new instruments constantly arriving at the house. It really did make Reese laugh. He didn’t understand why they couldn’t just be happy that he had actually found something that he could make a career out of. They had their ‘perfect son’, why couldn’t they just leave Reese in peace with his music? It was ridiculous.
But as ridiculous as it was, Reese didn’t have to deal with it for an entire summer. He didn’t even have to think about it for an entire summer, so he wasn’t going to. So, in order to distract himself at that moment in time he placed all his attention on his ukulele. He was so focused on the tiny instrument that he almost didn’t realize when somebody spoke to him.. Callie opened her eyes slowly, looking out of the window to see the sun shining brightly, so brightly that she had to shield her eyes with her hands. She smiled softly to herself glad she didn’t wake up to a stormy morning. Stifling a yawn, she climbed out of bed and washed up. Throwing on a casual outfit, grabbing her bag and saying goodbye to her roomie she left the cabin in search of something exciting to do. Slipping on her shades as soon as she stepped out, she scanned camp grounds wondering where should she head to. Her main objective today was to do something awesome but she was still looking out for ‘awesome’. Heading to the caf, she saw the long line of hungry campers and sighed. She really didn’t have the patience to stand in queue for this but she was starved. She hadn’t eaten last night because she was working on her flute. Regretting that she skipped dinner, she made her way over to the vending machine which sold oreos. Well it wasn’t the healthiest option for breakfast but it definitely beats going hungry and health wasn’t really an issue for Callie right now. She bought a packet and slipped out of the caf, tearing it open. She waved to a few friendly faces but didn’t join them because she didn’t want to feel like she was intruding on others. Looking around, almost everyone was carrying their instrument, it might seem odd but honestly this was music camp of course you carried you’re instrument everywhere you go. With that Callie that she had forgotten to take her flute out with her when she left her cabin, she smacked herself on the forehead, cursing herself for that. Callie screwing up was a thing of norm, she didn’t really intentionally forget stuff just tends to slip her mind a lot. Her flute was practically what she lived for and music of course, she picked up flute because her dad made her when she was a little girl, she used to dislike it a lot, who wouldn’t if you had to spend hours confined in a room playing the scales again and again. But looking back, it was her flute that helped Callie get over stuff, of course she had her dear friends to get her by but music somehow helped it was like her drug. She popped the last piece in her mouth and crumpled up the blue wrapper, throwing it into a near by bin. She fished out a bottle of water from her bag and Drank it, she would kill for something ice cold now, something that was sweet or fizzy. It wasn’t really right to drink soda in the morning but then again it wasn’t really right to have oreos in the morning so who cares she thought happily, planning to go for a run later. But first things first, her flute. Putting the bottle back into her bag, she realized that her key wasn’t in there. ”Oh crap” she muttered, digging deeper into her bag. It really wasn’t in there, praying that her roomie was still in there, she made her way back to the cabin. On the way back there, she noticed someone fooling around with a ukulele, bright green for that matter. Smiling amusedly to herself, the only person who would do such a thing was Reese. She hadn’t seen him in a while, She noticed people were staring at him and his ukulele but then again it was Reese who was playing it so he probably didn’t care about it. She grinned at the thought of that, he was that oblivious to the surroundings when he was doing his thing. Everyone had their own space, they just needed to find a way to get to that space, once you’re there it’s hard pay attention to anything else. Deciding to walk over, she sat down next to him, ”Look at you...all focused in your music” she teased him, ”And you’re alone” she pointed out to him with a playful smile. - - - - -Reese‘s hands plucked at and glided over his ukulele in a seemingly effortless manner, producing a tropical sound. His hands fumbled a few times because it had been a while since he had actually played it and he was growing so accustomed to focusing all his attention on his keyboard. But considering he hadn‘t played in a while, Reese was kind of impressed with himself. Then again, music had always come easy to him. It had just always made sense to him. Everyone had to be good at something, and music had always been the one area that Reese had always excelled in.
The sound of a voice that was in closer proximity to him than the others were brought Reese from his thoughts quickly. He pulled his eyes up from his ukulele and they scanned the area around him curiously in search of the owner of the voice. He blinked absent-mindedly a few times before he finally managed to locate who was talking to him. To say he wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed would have been an understatement. The kid was a straight up moron. But hey whether his parents hated it or not, that was what worked for him. “Huh? Oh hi there Callie!” A smile spread across his face at seeing the girl before him and a few chuckles escaped at her comment about him being focused. A hand held up the green instrument so Callie could get a better look, and the other hand motioned to it as Reese spoke. “Yeah, I decided today would be a good day to break out old Paulette here. She was feeling a bit neglected.” Why yes, Reese had named his ukulele Paulette. He named all of his instruments. Actually he named just about everything he owned. His keyboard was named Pegasus and his phone was named Marco. Nobody was really sure why he did it; hell, Reese wasn’t even sure why he did it. But the kid just got the biggest kick out of the expression on his friends faces when he referred to his objects by his names for them and acted like they were real people So perhaps he was just a little bit warped in the head, but hey once again, that was what worked for Reese. And he was going to continue what worked best for him regardless of what anybody else said about it. When Callie mentioned that Reese was alone, he actually looked around him. It wasn’t actually to check if anybody was there, it was just kind of a habit. It probably made him look even less intelligent than he normally did, but that was whatever. “Well what do you know, I am alone! Or...was.” Reese chuckled a bit at his silly comment. There were plenty of people around to talk to, but none of them were really striking Reese’s fancy at the moment. And if Reese was going to get up and make the effort to talk to somebody, then they were going to have to strike his fancy immediately. In all honesty, Reese was really glad that Callie had showed up. As much as he loved being alone sometimes, he loved being around people even more. As hard as it was for those who knew Reese as such a social creature to comprehend, Reese was one of those people that needed a good balance of being alone and being with other people in order for him to thrive. And when he didn’t have that balance he was just thrown all out of whack. And besides all that, Callie was a friend of his. On top of that she was a cute friend of his. If you couldn’t already tell, Reese was not the kind to deny an attractive woman. Reese placed his brightly colored instrument on the ground next to him and turned all of his attention towards Callie. He wasn’t about to sit there and be rude. “So how are you muffin?” Muffin was Reese’s nickname for just about anything because…well…he just liked muffins. There really wasn't a meaningful reason for that..[/blockquote] callie ! picture credit: sydknee says @ CAUTION 2.0 outfit: clickeh!lyric credit: cowboy casanova - carrie underwood. word count: six hundred and eighty four ! notes: ahahah. thank youuu. i just feel like my posts are really scatter-brained lately. and i do not approveee.[/ul]

Yeah the ukulele was considered to be a rare instrument outside the tropical island especially in the state of Nevada but when Reese played it, it seemed pretty normal to Callie. Bring an amused smile to her face, she sat down beside him, looking around camp grounds. She couldn’t help but break out in laughter when he looked up trying to look for the person who was speaking to him. It was known throughout camp that he wasn’t the brightest spark here but Callie was no Einstein-ette herself. Forgetting to bring her keys was a perfect example, along with the many other things she had screwed up before. Maybe that was the reason why they were friends. She grinned as he said hi, looking at the smile on his face, ”Morning Reesey” she said with a playful smile. She was in a good mood that’s for sure, who wouldn’t be with the sunshine, people and everything. It was actually really easy to put Callie in a good mood, just throw in a few of her friends or music and she’d be in a good mood. Taking off her shades, she decided that it wasn’t really wasn’t polite to be talking with her shades on, so she tucked them in her pocket. Turning back to Reese, she eyed the green ukulele with amusement, it was a rather foreign instrument to her, so she regarded it with unmasked fascination. She could play basic guitar and people often took the ukulele to be the minature guitar but she pretty much guessed that it had some differences. Her eyes lit up with pure curiosity as he ‘introduced’ Paulette, she gave him a half skeptical half amused look, ”Paulette?” she asked getting a laugh out of it, it might seem rude to laugh because everyone had their own quirky habits and she was no exception, okay she didn’t name her instruments at the thought of that she stopped laughing and tried to get serious, ”Paulette is a really pretty…ukulele” she commented, nodding trying to say it seriously. But her amusement got the better of her and she couldn’t help but chuckle. Calming down, ”Sorry about laughing, natural reaction but she seems awesome” Callie nodded with a smile telling the truth, couldn’t help but feel a little bad for laughing just now. Her smile grew wider when she saw him look around when she said he was alone, she couldn’t tell if he was fooling around or he really meant to do that, it just made her smile even more. She raised an eyebrow at his comment, laughing softly, ”I figured you could use some company” she said casually, which was also speaking for herself too, she could use company now and since Reese was the first person she could fine, he would just have to bear with me, she thought jokingly to herself with a smile. Deciding to keep her thoughts to herself, she looked at him, Reese wasn’t bad looking, he was what most girls would consider ‘cute’, she never really got the concept of ‘hot’ and ‘cute’ quite right, they were just different words to say that the person was attractive right? Many things confused Callie, this was one of them, she could just go along with everything and that was pretty much her plan for now, just go with the flow. It really pissed off her brother to see her take life as it is but heck he wasn’t in camp so whatever that didn’t bother her. She tilted her head, looking at him with a grin, ”Muffin? Nothing much love I just lost the keys to my cabin, so that’s pretty normal for me” she joked, nodding ”What about you and Paulette?” she asked, half joking half serious.
