 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -[ EVERYTHING'S SUPPOSED TO HAVE A HAPPY ENDING ]but the record keeps skipping and the needle keeps bendingAdin's shoes smacked the the ground and then her heels as she walked down to the dock, her favorite place to think and just plain old be. Camp was amazing, everything she could ask for and more. Sure, she felt like she stuck out at times, but she'd never had an issue with that. Today she was just in the mood for nice, mellow beachy music hence the acoustic guitar strapped across her back. She'd never really been into acoustic guitars, but it was always good to try your options and have one. Her electric guitars were back in her cabin.
She sat down on the already hot end of the dock after slipping off her shoes. Pulling the guitar around so that she could play it, she looked up at the sky and savored the hot hot sun beating down on her. Easily, her fingers found themselves strumming the happy tune of Make it Mine, an acoustic song she happened to love. It was always funny when other people listened to her ipod. One minute they'd be listening to Joan Jett and the Blackhearts then they'd be hearing the happy, soothing sounds of Jason Mraz.
With one last strum on the final chord, she pulled the strap over her head, and made it as short as it could go before sliding the loop of fabric around one of the many posts lining the dock.

 She's lives in a fairytalesomewhere too far for us to findMandy was in love with life today. Everything about the day made her want to sing. The weather was beautiful, she was doing well in her voice lessons, and she was in an overall cheerful mood. She was done with organized activities for the day, and decided that it was the perfect opportunity to take a walk around the grounds. She hadn't had much chance to explore yet; everything here was still new and exciting to her. She was wandering around aimlessly for a bit, her long hair flowing in the breeze, when she heard some music coming from the general direction of the dock. Mandy was intrigued, and she began walking in that direction. She was curious about who was down there.
Arriving at the dock, Amanda saw that there was a girl sitting on the end of it, playing the guitar. Mandy had always loved the guitar, and wished she could play it. She wouldn't let people know that, though; outwardly she was completely content with singing. Mandy walked closer, listening, making sure she wasn't heard as not to disturb the girl. As the girl finished the song and hung her guitar up, Mandy decided to approach her. She sat down on the edge of the dock carefully, making sure her dress was straightened out.
"That was lovely. What was the song?" she asked the girl with a smile.

Sure, she wasn't someone Adin knew she'd be able to be with constantly, but it never hurt to be nice. "Make it Mine by Jason Mraz, can't take the credit this time." She laughed and held her hand out to the other girl. She'd seen her around camp but they had never been formally introduced.
"I'm Adin Stokes, I don't think we've met before." She said smiling. today was just a nice day in general. Everything seemed good about the day and obviously the other girl felt the same.
Adin had never really fit in with other girls coming from a family in which she, her mother, and her aunts were the only girls. Her grandmother had died when she was younger. She tried her best and was nice to everyone, but she got annoyed when girls couldn't get down and dirty or have a little fun without being slutty. That was the other thing she hated about being female, there were so many stereotypes, but she didn't worry about those, she could correct anyone who tried to stereotype her. Growing up with older brothers had it's advantages in that area.

She got that a lot; she knew how ostentatious she tended to appear, and that put some people off from her. However, the girl wasn't being unfriendly in any way, so Mandy chose to ignore the feeling she got from her. No need to jump to conclusions.
Mandy nodded when the girl told her the name of the song. She'd never heard it before, but she liked it. She would have to download it. She shook the girl's outstretched hand as she introduced herself. She knew that she'd seen this girl around before, but had never formally met her. "Nice to meet you, Adin. I'm Amanda Carlin, but everyone calls me Mandy. I do think I've seen you around, what troop are you in?"
Mandy pushed her blonde locks out of her face and behind her ear; the light breeze was messing with her hair in an annoying way. She looked out at the lake for a moment, enjoying the day and watching the birds fly by. Mandy found the way this camp was able to bring people of different lifestyles together pretty interesting - she got to meet people she'd never otherwise talk to. Whether or not they could ever be friends was another story.

She said. "What about you?" She asked leaning back on her hands and looking at the bouncy blonde dressed in bright pink.
Adin had never been a huge fan of the color pink. It was just associated with too many feminine things and growing up with brothers, she'd shied away from most things girly. Heck, she'd never been to a dance in her life, never had a boyfriend either. Not that she wanted one. Adin was a firm believer in the fact that love is just a chemical malfunction in your brain. Almost everyone she knew had tried to talk her out of it, but that was just what she thought.
The sun blasted down on the two girls and Adin adored it. England had been wet and smoggy and gross. Sure, it was interesting to live there, but weather wise it sucked. Now here in Nevada, everything was warm and dry. Just the way she liked it. "What brought you here?" She asked assessing the other girl subtly. "Other than your love for music of course." She added as an after thought. That was why most people were here right? At least she hoped so otherwise they were wasting not only their summers, but other people's time as well.
